The new Ka, that will be priced lower that the Fiat 500 will be initially offered with two engines: a 1.2-litre 69 PS Duratec petrol engine and, for the first time on Ka, a 1.3-litre 75 PS Duratorq TDCi turbodiesel. Ford says that the 1.2-litre petrol model, which is expected to be the largest seller in the range, has cut fuel consumption by 21 per cent compared to the previous 1.3-litre Ka. As for the diesel model, Ford has released a preliminary combined fuel consumption figure of 4.2 litres/100km (56mpg US / 67.2mpg UK).

Ford Ka 2009When it goes on sale across Europe, the new Ford Ka will be offered in two trims, Ambiente and Titanium while Ford will also offer a number of tailored option packs.

The Fiat Punto Natural Power is a dual fuel version of the well-known Punto that runs both on petrol and methane in order to offer better protection for the environment. With this new option, the car has a range of 310 km (192 miles) when running on methane with the tank filled to its full capacity of 84 litres (according to the manufacturer a full tank of methane costs 12 euros ($16) and 3.8 euros ($5) to cover 100 km(62 miles)).

The new vehicle features a 1.4 8v engine capable to deliver 77 hp at 6000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque while the top speed is limited to 160 km/h(100 mph). Price of the car: €12,300 or $16,600.
